Managing
Strategies for Sustainable Competitive Advantage.
Paper
title: Motivation-
A powerful strategy to
maximize Intellectual Capital.
Abstract.
Most
of our adult time is spent working. It’s true for so
many of us. Whether blue collar, pink collar, or white collar, workers
across
the country feel frustrated & unsatisfied on the job. Is it
possible to
combine excellence – quality, productivity, service with enjoyment?
There can
be no progress in the workplace until an individual values himself
& feels
valued by others.
“People
are the only long-term competitive advantage and lifelong
learning is the only way to fully develop that advantage.”
Hence
the concept of Intellectual capital is rapidly becoming a very
important
measure for assessing the company’s future performance. It is therefore
vital
that indicators and measures are developed, to allow managers to handle
this
variable better.
In
today's economy, the biggest task in front of a HR
Manager is to motivate and retain employees. All the attempts made in
this
direction are big failure and no one knows the route to employees’
heart. Motivation is an organization's
life-blood;
yet "motivation," as a business subject is often ignored.
Even
when not ignored, it certainly is not a focal point for strategic
thinking.
The
goal is to increase production and efficiency to reach
maximum results for the organization. Motivation for better performance
depends
on job satisfaction, achievement, recognition, and professional growth.
Providing a positive motivational work environment is a challenging
managerial
activity in the competitive world. Therefore, it is essential to
understand
associates and their professional needs.
The
objective of my paper is to better understand &
study the importance of Intellectual Capital & argues that
adoption of
Motivational strategies can give sustainable competitive advantage.
The
research study includes recent literature available in
the form of secondary data through exhaustive study of journals, case
studies,
industrial reviews etc.

Globalization: Opportunities & Challenges
Paper title: Health Tourism
Abstract.
Life is a combination of the Body, the Senses, the Mind and the Aatma (spirit or the soul). They can't be separated from each other, and none can be neglected. A Healthy Mind lives in Healthy Body!
Health
and Wellness Tourism throughout the Globalized World!
Globalization
has promoted a consumerist culture, thereby promoting goods and
services that
can feed the aspirations arising from this culture. THE most recent
trend in
privatization of health services is medical tourism, which is gaining
prominence in developing countries.
Broadly
speaking, medical tourism is the practice
of going abroad for medical care. People
are currently traveling overseas not only for holidays, but
also for health reasons as well.
Medical
tourism for Holidays and
Health!
As a
general way of life, medical tourism dates back to the earliest days of
civilization
when patients would travel far and wide in search of medical expertise
and
counseling.
As
an industry, however, it is only a few
decades old. Globalization and mass communication have helped
many
developing countries compete in the wider world of health
care. Due to
lower labor costs, more flexible malpractice laws, and heavy investing,
certain
medical tourism destinations have emerged as leaders in affordable
health and
medicine.
“Medical tourism” is
carving a niche for itself in medical
practice for various reasons including expensive healthcare in
developed
countries, more affordable foreign travel, and positive currency
exchange
rates.
Explore the World of Safe,
Affordable, and
Reliable Medical Tourism.
Rising
health
care costs in the United States and longer waiting times in Canada are
inducing
patients to seek treatment overseas. The appeal of this phenomenon is
driven by
cost savings as high as 90%, depending on the procedure and the country
in
which it is performed, and virtually no wait times.
As
medical treatment costs in the developed
world balloon out of proportion, with the United States leading the
way, more
and more Westerners are finding the prospect of international travel
for
medical care increasingly appealing. An estimated 150,000 of
these travel
to Asian nations like India and Thailand for cheap healthcare
procedures every
year.
The
equation is ‘First World treatment’ at “Third World prices”.
Medical
tourism is the buzzword now. The government as well as
private players are keenly assessing the potential and means to tap the
same.
The boom in state-of-the-art hospitals and well-qualified doctors
attract the
population from all over the world.
It
represents a common form of vacationing, and covers a broad spectrum of
medical
services. It mixes leisure, fun and relaxation together with wellness
and
healthcare.
Health
and medical tourism is perceived
as one of the fastest growing segments in marketing ‘Destination
India’ today. While this area has so far been
relatively unexplored, we now find that not only the ministry of
tourism,
government of India, but also the various state tourism boards and even
the
private sector consisting of travel agents, tour operators, hotel
companies and
other accommodation providers are all eying health and medical tourism
as a
segment with tremendous potential for future growth.
With
4 million tourists in 2006 with an
additional 5 million predicted for 2007, the Indian Tourism Ministry is
placing
medical travel and tourism on top priority.
India Becoming the Most Favored Medical Travel Destination. It can reverse
the brain drain.
The
article
focuses at the emergence of the medical tourism as a booming industry,
the pros
& cons, accreditations, health and safety issues of health
& wellness
industry. It also gives an insight that will help India to establish as
a
Health Care Destination while exploring the need, opportunities and
challenges
of Indian health tourism.
Through
various
comparative studies we can conclude that High quality treatment at a
fraction
of the cost, in comparison to western countries, makes India an ideal
healthcare destination. Appropriate Health and Medical tourism products
and
services in India will serve as an ideal platform to market for Incredible India! (Atulayaa Bharat!)
“BON VOYAGE & GET WELL”…!
